Vidya Balan hasn’t been able to do films from southern filmmakers due to lack of planning for them though she often gets interesting scripts. However, the actress is hopeful that in the vernacular languages, she’ll work in the future.
With her performance in “Paa, Parineeta, Kahaani and Ishqiya”, the 36-year-old carved a place for herself in Hindi films and now she wants to expand her abilities as an actress.
She said she’s getting offers from the filmmakers of Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalm films. The scripts in Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali are very good but their dates don’t match She said she really liked few scripts but could not do them due to lack of time but she’s hopeful to do an exciting film in any of the mentioned languages in the future. She added that she’s looking to do Bengali and Malayalam films because Telugu and Tamil filmmakers haven’t offered her good roles yet while she’s eager to do roles in an exciting film.
The actress is happy that women-centric films are doing well at box office as she’s currently performing a detective role in film “Bobby Jasoos”. She said every women-centric film is not working but a good women-centric film always gets good opening and audience support.
