Imran Khan (b. 25th Nov 1952) is a Pakistani celebrity, politician and former cricketer. In the late 20th century, he played international cricket for two decades and entered politics after retiring. Along his political activism, Khan is also a cricket commentator, philanthropist, Founding Chairman of Board of Governors of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital & Research Centre and Chancellor of the University of Bradford. In 2008, he founded Namal College (Mianwali) through worldwide fundraising.

He was the most successful cricket captain of Pakistan. At the 1992 Cricket World Cup, he led his country to victory. From 1971 to 1992, he played for the Pakistan cricket team and through 1982-1992, served as its captain intermittently. Owing to popular demand he was requested to come back by the president of Paksitan Zia ul Haq to lead the team once again, after his retirement from cricket at the end of the 1987 World Cup in 1988. In 1992, Khan led his team to Pakistan’s first and only World Cup victory, at the age of 39. He is one of the eight world cricketers to have achieved an ‘All-rounder’s Triple’ in Test matches, with 3807 runs and 362 wickets in Test cricket. Khan was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame on 14th July 2010.
